About Me
Kathy Corcoran
I am so happy and excited to begin a new chapter in my life and share it with you! I am an experienced stained-glass artist who has been designing stained-glass art as a hobby for years. I recently retired from Corning Incorporated after 30 years. My career at Corning has been wonderful and has allowed me to travel all over the world and work with all kinds of people but it is time for a change.
I am looking forward to working with the public, meeting new people, and creating new relationships within the local Corning businesses. Capture Stained Glass will need my time and dedication. This business is not only about sales: it requires the ability to instruct people, make them comfortable with the hobby, and gain their interest in the art of stained glass. This is an opportunity for me to use my Marketing degree, my artistic talents and a little of my engineering experience.
The glass
Stained glass is so unique; the colors are endless, no project is ever the same, and design possibilities are only limited by imagination. My joy comes from how the process makes me feel. It requires focus, as I get absorbed into cutting, grinding and assembling, all the day’s stress moves to the back of my mind, and I just relax. But… if you are having a difficult day, it is kind of fun to take some aggression out and just break a piece of glass for fun! When you add friends, and sometimes a glass of wine, it becomes a fantastic way to spend an evening.

The Business
The idea of sharing my passion with others has evolved over the past three years or so. I started to think about ways to allow others to enjoy the fun without all the skills. I wondered if a beautiful piece of stained glass could be created in a few short hours with some guidance. I tested my idea on a few close friends, and it worked. I had found a way to share my passion for glass and continue to spend time with people and be an active part of the community. It took some time to get here, but now, three years later, my husband Sean and I have found the perfect location to open our business. We have been dreaming about this day ever since we came up with the concept.
